his
elegant pair of French silver plate sugar tongs is designed in the “
Japonais
” pattern. The “
Japonais
” pattern was commercialized by
Christofle
starting in the 1880’s. It bears the maker’s marks of the famous
Maison
Christofle
in Paris - the name “
Christofle
” written in block letters and the initials C.C. (
Charles
Christofle
) surrounding the images of a bee and a scale surmounted by two stars. This antique pair of French sugar tongs is in very good condition with the exception of some scratches, not unusual for a piece that has been around for 100 years! Please refer to the detailed photos on this page.
